TOURS
INTRODUCTION
Part of the legacy of the Wunderkammer - or the Cabinets of Curiosities, Musée Patamécanique is (Might be? Was??) a small, private museum rumored to open its doors to friends, colleagues and occasional outside observers.
CONTRADICTION
Yet, there are some who say that Musée Patamécanique does not exist! They say the museum is nothing more than an elaborate hoax concocted by an enigma of puerile Pataphysicians* and that any attempt to seek-it-out will be a total waste of time.
LOCATION
Tours may (OR MAY NOT!) take place in the heart of Historic Downtown Bristol, Rhode Island. About thirty minutes by car from Providence, eighty minutes from Boston and four hours from New York City.
HOURS OF OPERATION
We’re (conceivably) open by appointment from June through October on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
Our (potentially mythical) excursions depart at sunset - which is at a different time every night but generally between 5:58PM and 8:38PM. We’ll let you know the exact time when we confirm your (non) visit, but you can learn more here.
ADMISSION
The cost of general admission is a cash donation of $100.00 per tour. Members (in good standing) of Pataphysical institutions are encouraged to barter for their tour and we are open to your proposals, but here is a list of items our curatorial staff is currently seeking. If you are an outside observer you are WELCOME, but before making a reservation, go here.
RESERVATION
Be advised, it usually takes four or five e-mails to arrange a tour as we like to get to know a little bit about each new visitor prior to their arrival. This playful interaction is where the process of passive visitors becoming engaged participants begins.91
NOTIFICATION
If you're made uncomfortable by liberal thought, small dark spaces, walking and standing for about 90 minutes, Rabelaisian humor87, seriously bad puns16, absurdism* and being immersed in a world of childish whimsy - then we suggest that you seek alternative forms of entertainment. Read more about the physical aspects of our (possible) tours here.
CANCELLATION
Life – can be complicated. If you need to cancel your (wanna be) visit please let us know as far in advance as possible so we can fill your reservation with another interested party.
PRECIPITATION
We reserve the right to cancel tours due to inclement weather, an electricity outage or other unforeseen circumstances.
VACATION!
Whether we exist or not is of no consequence - what matters most is that you come early and dine at one of Bristol’s many fine restaurants. OR, pop-into one of our numerous night-time establishments after your would-be tour. Better still - Spend a whole day exploring our beloved town. There are historic sites, bike paths, walking trails, nautical museums, parks, arboretums, galleries and eclectic shops galore. Heck, check into this very special Airbnb and spend the weekend! Bristol has so much to offer and we’re excited to share it all with you!
